The US private sector added approximately 90,000 jobs in September, according to figures released moments ago by ADP, following the addition of approximately 38,000 jobs in August. This exceeded expectations, which had predicted an increase of 73,000 jobs. Wages also rose by 4.7% year-on-year.
In detail, the goods-producing sector lost 31,000 jobs, with the natural resources and mining sector losing 1,000 jobs. The construction sector added approximately 15,000 jobs, and the manufacturing sector added approximately 17,000 jobs. The education and health services sector led the service sector with an increase of 55,000 jobs, while the professional and business services sector lost 11,000 jobs. The leisure and hospitality sector added 22,000 jobs.
