US inflation exceeds expectations in June and records the largest reading since 2008 and the dollar is rising

Data issued by the Bureau of Labor Statistics in the United States of America showed an increase in the consumer price index, which measures inflation by 0.9% in June, after rising by about 0.6% in May, exceeding expectations that indicated it would rise to 0.5%, recording the largest pace of increase since June 2008, while the index rose By about 5.4% on an annual basis compared to the same period last year and compared to an increase of about 5% in May, exceeding expectations that indicated a rise by 4.9%, to record the largest reading of the index since August 2008.

In the details of the index, the largest increase in the index came from the used cars and trucks sector, with an increase of 10.5% in June, while the food price index rose by about 0.8% and by 2.4% on an annual basis, and the energy index rose by about 1.5% in June with an increase in the gasoline price index by 2.5 % .

The main index, excluding food and energy prices, recorded about 0.9% in June, after a 0.7% increase in May, and a rise of about 4.5% on an annual basis.

The US dollar reacted after the statement and recorded gains of more than 0.30%, as it is now trading at 92.62 levels before the opening of the US markets.
