Cryptocurrencies recorded collective gains in mid-trading on Friday, July 18, the final session of the week, benefiting from the passage of three regulatory bills in the US House of Representatives. This brought the market capitalization of the cryptocurrency market to a record high of 4 trillion for the first time, with Dogecoin leading the gains of cryptocurrencies today.
The US House of Representatives passed the third bill to regulate the cryptocurrency market last Thursday evening, the State Law to Combat and Control Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDC), by a vote of 219 to 217. This is the third bill to be passed during what has become known as Cryptocurrency Week, following the passage of the CLARITY Act, which defines digital assets as securities or commodities, and the GENIUS Act, which regulates stable cryptocurrencies. Markets were anticipating the passage of these bills and began pricing them in conjunction with the rise in institutional demand for cryptocurrencies. These victories are considered the culmination of the US administration and President Trump, who have long embraced and supported the cryptocurrency sector.
The combined market capitalization of the cryptocurrency market, according to Coingecko, which lists more than 17,000 cryptocurrencies, rose by approximately 1.4% on Friday, bringing the market capitalization to $4.003 trillion for the first time. Altcoins excluding Bitcoin led the rise in market capitalization.
