The US private sector added approximately 44,000 jobs in July, according to figures released moments ago by ADP, following the addition of approximately 95,000 jobs in June. This fell short of expectations, which had anticipated the addition of 68,000 jobs. Wages rose by 4.4% year-over-year.
In detail, the goods-producing sector lost 3,000 jobs, with the natural resources and religious services sector losing 6,000 jobs. The construction sector added approximately 1,000 jobs, and the manufacturing sector added approximately 2,000 jobs. The education and health services sector led the service sector with an increase of 36,000 jobs, while the professional and business services sector added 9,000 jobs. The trade, transportation, and utilities sector lost 8,000 jobs, and the leisure and hospitality sector lost 11,000 jobs.
