UK GDP Declines in April

Preliminary estimates from the UK Office for National Statistics showed that UK GDP fell by 0.3% in April, compared to a 0.2% growth in March, below expectations of a 0.1% decline.
This reading is expected to see the UK economy grow by 0.7% in the three months to April.
The services sector, which accounts for more than 70% of the UK economy, recorded a 0.4% decline in April, compared to a 0.4% growth in March, making it the largest contributor to the decline in GDP in April. However, it increased by 0.6% in the three months to April. The construction sector grew by 0.9%, and output fell by 0.6% in April after a 0.7% decline in March
