Preliminary estimates from the UK’s Office for National Statistics show that the UK’s gross domestic product (GDP) rose by 0.4% in the three months to June, following a revised 0.6% increase in the three months to May. On a monthly basis, the economy grew by 0.3% in June, after showing no growth in May, exceeding expectations.

The services sector, which accounts for more than 70% of the UK economy, grew by 0.5% in the three months to June and by 0.4% month-on-month in June. The construction sector contracted by 0.1% in January but rose by 0.3% in the three months to June. Production output fell by 0.2% in January but rose by 0.2% in the three months to June.
