This figure fell short of expectations, which had anticipated 66,000 new jobs.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Meanwhile, the unemployment rate declined slightly in January, falling 0.01 percentage points to 4.3% from 4.4% in December, exceeding expectations. The labor force participation rate also rose to 62.5% from 62.4%.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Earnings per hour increased in January, rising 0.4% month-over-month from a revised 0.1% in December, also surpassing expectations. Year-over-year, earnings rose to 3.7%, compared to 3.8% in December.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">In terms of sectors, jobs in the goods production sector rose by about 36,000 jobs, while the manufacturing sector added 5,000 jobs, and the construction sector added 33,000 jobs.
