The Australian labor market lost about 146.300 thousand jobs in August, according to data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS), bringing the number of jobs to 13,022.600 million jobs, after adding more than 3 thousand jobs in July, while expectations indicated a loss of about 78 thousand jobs.
On the other hand, unemployment rates fell to 4.5% in August, compared to 4.6%, at a time when market expectations indicated a rise to 5%, coinciding with the decline in the participation rate in the labor market to 65.2% compared to 66%.
Full-time employment decreased by 68 thousand jobs to 8,956.500 million jobs, while part-time employment also declined by 78,200 thousand people to 4.066.100 million people.
The Australian dollar is trading at 0.7322 levels against the US dollar, after testing 0.7350 levels in the Asian session.
