Inflation in Australia was at 5.4% in June

 Figures issued in the Asian session this morning, Wednesday, July 26, from the Australian Institute of Statistics (ABS), showed that the consumer price index, which measures inflation in Australia, rose by 5.4% on an annual basis in June, compared to 5.6% in May, revised to 5.5%, to come in line with expectations, while the monthly index rose. By 0.8% and by 6% in the second quarter of this year, compared to 7% in the first quarter.

In the details, the most important increases in the index came from the increase in housing prices by 7.4%, while the prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages increased by about 7.0%, and the prices of entertainment and culture increased by 6.8%, while the prices of petrol dropped by 10.6%.
