A report released moments ago by the Bureau of Economic Analysis shows that US GDP grew by 4.3% in the third quarter of this year, ending in September. This figure, initially delayed since October 30th due to the US government shutdown, is based on a preliminary estimate, compared to a 3.8% increase in the second quarter of last year. This exceeds expectations, which had projected growth of 3.3%.

Meanwhile, new orders for durable goods fell in October, according to a report released moments ago by the US Census Bureau. The orders declined by $6.8 billion, or 2.2%, to $307.4 billion, compared to a 0.5% increase in September. This figure fell short of market expectations, which had anticipated a 1.5% decrease. In contrast, core orders, excluding transportation orders, rose by 0.2% in October, compared to a 1.7% increase in September (expectations had anticipated a 0.3% rise).
