Figures issued moments ago by the European Union’s statistical office, Eurostat, showed that the eurozone economy grew by 0.1% in the fourth and final quarter of last year 2022, compared to 0.3% in the third quarter, matching expectations, while it was stable in the European Union.

On an annual basis, the economy of the eurozone grew by about 1.9%, compared to the same quarter of 2021, from 2.3%, and by about 1.8% in the European Union, from 2.5%.

On the other hand, the gross domestic product in the largest economy in the eurozone (Germany) decreased by 0.2% in the fourth quarter, while it recorded a growth of about 0.5% compared to the same quarter of 2021.

The French economy grew by 0.1%, compared to 0.1% recorded in the third quarter.

The euro against the US dollar is trading at 1.0827 levels, declining by about 30 points, affected by the rise of the US dollar, amid anticipation for the European Central Bank’s meeting on Thursday.
