The Australian unemployment rate rose in April to 3.7% from 3.5%, according to figures issued by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) at the beginning of the Asian session today, Thursday, while expectations were that it would stabilize at 3.5%, with a decrease in the participation rate in the labor market to 66.7%.

The Australian economy lost about 4,300 thousand jobs in April, bringing the number of employment down to 13,882,100 million jobs, compared to 13,886,400 million in March, while expectations were for an addition of approximately 25 thousand.
