UK growth fell to 0.5% in December

 Preliminary figures from the Office of National Statistics in the United Kingdom ONS, issued moments ago, showed a decrease in the growth of the gross domestic product of the United Kingdom in December by 0.5%, compared to a growth of about 0.1% in the November reading, while expectations indicated a decline of 0.3%, and the growth of the economy stabilized by 0.3%. 0.0%, with no growth in the three months ending in December, compared to the third quarter.

Expectations are in line with expectations. In terms of production, the services sector slowed down to a steady level in the fourth quarter, driven by a decline in the education, transportation, and storage sectors. The construction sector also recorded a decrease of 0.2%.

On the other hand, the monthly industrial production increased by 0.3% in December after declining by 0.2% in November, as the growth was supported by an increase in the electricity and gas sector by 5.2%.

The pound sterling, in turn, is stable this Friday morning, and is trading at 1.2102 levels.
